Claudia A. Peña, is an Accredited Verifier, member of the International EPD System (IES) Technical Committee and Co-Director of the HUB EPD Latin America. She is also a shadowing verification trainer for IES, having reviewed LCA and EPD of products of different sectors and categories (such as mining and metallurgy products, steel products, construction sector’s products, agriculture and food products, packaging, and others).
Claudia works as Director of Sustainability at ADDERE Research and Technology. Her large experience in the fields of environmental risk assessment (ERA) and LCA, was acquired by working for more than 25 years at the Research Centre for Mining and Metallurgy, leading R&D projects for industry and later on as the Director of Industrial Sustainability.
During her professional career, she has covered different R&D+I areas such as ERA, LCA and LCA-based methodologies (like Eco-efficiency, S-LCA, LCSA), MFA and environmental footprint. She has worked as an external expert for UNEP since 2002, being part of many working groups of the Life Cycle Initiative (UNEP LC Initiative) and of the International Resource Panel (UNEP IRP): such as green energy choices, water accounting, the implementation of the ISO14046 (water footprint), global consensus on LCA databases, among others. She has been auditor for the EPD Platform for the Construction Sector (ECO Platform), also a member of the International Advisory Committee (IAC) of the Ecoinvent, and founding member and part of the board of the Ibero-American Life Cycle Network (RICV).
She is currently a member of the Steering Committee of the Life Cycle Initiative (hosted by UNEP), and member of the Multi-Stakeholder Advisory Committee (MAC) of the UNEP One Planet Network Consumer Information Programme (CI-SCP).
